using "working knowledge" on resume

I am currently learning MATLAB, but i don't fully have it covered. I want to put it on my resume in preparation for summer internship recruiting. I understand that using "working-knowledge" is bad (or not optimal). How do i let them know that i am learning it in an appealing way?

Just like any language you aren't fluent in use Intermediate to describe your skill level. It looks more credible than basic but also exempts you from being responsible for the nuances only the advanced know of.
