Which non target undergrad should I choose?
I'm interested in IB/consulting, and I'm wondering which of these schools are best for either of those two. All my results (besides waitlist) came out. Prob will major in finance/econ and minor in CS.
URochester - The more prestigious one in the 30-50 range for top schools in the US. It seems to have a good finance program. About 50k per year.
Binghamton - The best NY state. Well rounded. 10k per year.
Baruch - Not the best, but I've heard it has good alums. In city. Free.
Hunter (Honors program) - Better than Baruch for general education, and in the city. Unsure about how it stacks up for internships/jobs for finance. Free.
Any advice? I know Baruch is the one more often mentioned but it's the worst for overall education so I feel unsure about that.
Hi luckymonkey, any of these topics helpful:

I'm in a similar situation (but choosing between different schools). I've heard a lot about Baruch though. The main thing Baruch has going for it is the LOCATION. Right across the street from Credit Suisse and other big investment banks.
Try checking out each of those schools alum base to see if there are a lot of them in the field you're interested in.
Good luck!
You're not paying $200K all in to attend Rochester. Take that one out of your consideration set.
You'd probably have the most fun at Bingo but Baruch for free is a good deal, and it's regarded well for Finance.
Baruch
Rather than focusing on which school will get you into IB/Consulting, I think you should focus on which school will help you to get into the best transfer school Junior year. Until that point, do everything you can to make your transfer application as strong as possible.
I always found it quite odd that a state the size of NY doesn't have a large flagship public school.
Baruch is a school that really punches above its weight in finance. My suggestion would be to go there with the intention of crushing it for two years and sending a bunch of transfer applications out, as said above. You'd then only be paying for two years of school while maximizing your chances in recruiting. Worst case, you try grinding it out and networking your ass off at Baruch to break in and you'll graduate debt free.
That's probably because the Ivies dominate the landscape in the area and pluck all the talented students. Cornell and Columbia alone are both in NY, Yale's in CT. and Princeton's over in Jersey-that's the whole tri-state area gone. Of course the students at the top of the state schools in NY are exceptional-it's just the schools are dragged down by their commitment to openly enrolling damn near everyone else as public service.
