18 y/o (25k) investing guidance
I’m a freshman in college and my parents gave me 25k to invest. What would you invest in? At my age and situation I’m very risk tolerant but don’t want to touch options or crypto (I want to invest all of it in equities or ETFs).
I’m hoping to buy around 5 different names that I can feel comfortable holding in my portfolio for years to come. So far I’ve been eyeing ARKG (Ark’s Genomic Revolution ETF), IPOE (SoFi’ SPAC) and OPEN (Opendoor). Thoughts? Suggestions?
You want diversification? Here's a low-risk sample portfolio that still has the potential for high returns: 5k in Dogecoin, 5k in GME, 5k in OTM Tesla calls, 5k in Chamath Palihapitiya SPACs, and 5k in a Polymarket bet that Donald Trump will be inaugurated for his second term in two days.
100% do this, but swap Chamath's SPAC for PSTH (Bill Ackman's) and don't bet on the election. Put that $5k into OTM BB LEAPs instead. Can't go tits up regardless of which old fart takes over.
If you need crypto exposure, go BTC, not ETH or Doge lmao. Tesla shares, not calls. IPOE is a slam dunk, wall street has been trying to take SoFi public for 2 years.
PSTH will either be amazing or extremely meh. I fear his ability to source a unicorn deal, or at least a high quality one. In the age of SPACs, tech founders seem to be favouring those with great tech experience and insight; this lends to more deals going to someone like Chamath than a finance hardo like Ackman. Remember there is nothing stopping Chamath from creating a new SPAC to steal deal flow from Ackman if he really wanted to. He's dominating the tech field both in deals funded and performance.
Put all of it into ethereum
Cannot stress this enough. Ethereum is a very viable cryptocurrency that may even be better than bitcoin.
Jesus christ we're in a bubble aren't we
Back in college I put all my extra cash into Mid Cap mutual funds and it worked out well.
I would suggest only putting a few grand into individual stocks and the other ~90% into a broad market ETF. Depending on which site you use there should be one you can get with 0 fees or transaction costs (I.e ITOT if you use fidelity). Also if you have a job you can put some into a ROTH.
Came here to say this. If you made any money last year throw as much you can in a Roth.
Buy $20k worth of VTSAX and forget about it for 40-50 years. Fuck around with the other $5k picking stocks.
You'll thank me in 40-50 years.
Buy a MJ/LBJ/KOBE psa 10 rookie card
Damn I was born in the wrong family.
$ARKK and $ARKG
no don't buy these meme stocks
don't buy SPACs after deal announcement pop
bitcoin will hit 50k in within two weeks
bold prophesy with a specific timeline - I agree - I think it will come up to 50K, but not sure when. I think it will get much higher as well, but I'm just an observer.
the price has been consolidating this past week or so, I feel a big move coming. could go either way but I'm leaning bullish
25K into opendoor let it ride f it
