Any other incoming analysts bored out of their mind in their final year in college?

Before anyone jumps down my throat…I know I’ll regret not savoring the 1pm finish time on a Tuesday or being able to workout at 11am on a random Wednesday morning, but I feel like I’m running down an imaginary clock that’s end-date is my first day back on the desk.
Despite doing a finance degree, the work done in the class is completely uncorrelated to the BAU’s on the desk and it honestly feel’s like a waste of time. Anyone else in the same boat?

You sound like a hyper type A person, who needs something to chase- not a bad thing imo, just a thing

Try out new hobbies- Chess, BJJ, learn a language, learn how to make Pizza.

Think about your relations with women, most intelligent guys can sort the career, they can make 200k but loose it all in a divorce or just a bad relationship. Maybe give it some thought

Will 2nd chess. There's always some way to improve, and there's always someone better. The dopamine hit after winning is awesome. I've been absolutely addicted to chess before. Would recommend it to all intelligent type-A people who need a fun hobby.

Man 100%. Life is boring. Trying to work on hobbies and do some more reading, and work out more often.

Tbf tho I’m not the type to go clubbing often or go partying a ton. Perhaps I’m just a boring fellow.

I had a similar mindset when I entered my senior year. I'm very type A and I had already accomplished everything I wanted to academically in Undergrad going into my senior year (job secured, strong GPA, club leadership positions, etc.). Despite crossing off my academic goals, I really focused my time on saying yes to everything. I hung out with friends whenever I could, partied, went the gym, did intramurals, went on trips, etc. I'd really recommend you try and have as much fun as possible before hitting the desk.

Lol same position... I always need something to hyper fixate on. When its not recruiting, its grades. When its not grades, its extracurriculars. When its not extracurriculars, its random ass semester jobs. Now I literally have nothing real to worry about and im hella bored so I just took up the gym to get yolked and its honestly very rewarding. Also, take up travelling. You will get the money back but not really the time.

Same boat as you. Don’t force yourself to “drink and do drugs and get laid bro” if you don’t want to, some people have different interests and that’s okay.

Although, this is the only time that you’ll be able to pursue the things you want to with limited time restrictions. The absolute worst thing to do is just rot on your couch and binge TV or play video games. Personally, I am training for my first half marathon this spring (never have ran more than a 5k in my life), golfing a shit ton, reading lots of history books as a new hobby, teaching myself to code (which I pushed off for way too long), trying new restaurants and cuisines w/ my gf, doing buyside prep, and, of course, occasionally going out and getting belligerent with my fraternity bros.

You’re going to be too burnt out to pursue anything meaningful as a newbie analyst. I recognize that I can probably only continue with 2 of the things I listed above when I hit the desk (unfortunately, one of which will be buyside prep) so we have to make the most of our time now.
