Apologies - Weighing the options

My apologies for ever complaining on this site. I realize I have it pretty good and of course there were a lot of struggles and trade-offs along the way.

But man, there's a difference between gunning for something better and becoming so short sighted that you think this ONE thing in front of you is the only option (referring to some of the threads lately about biggest regrets etc)

Listen, there are many ways to make it in finance and the money will follow. You just need to buckle down and work hard and network smart. Stop whining and stop making dumbass moves. Each move should be strategic thinking another 2-3 moves ahead. That's what WSO is great at, helping you sort out the next few moves and weighing the options.

I admit I've had some whiny bitch posts on here debating whether to trade off a decent stock options package for a better (read strategic, but lower paid) career move. It was a tough decision personally, because you are putting your money where your mouth is.

I have not regretted it one single day and was a great turning point in my life. It has been an amazing experience, I'm happier on a personal and professional level. I do my work hard and I read and study as much as I can (while managing and balancing personal life like everyone else). Now I'm thinkin 2-3 steps ahead and where to gear my networking and learning efforts towards. I admit I have no clue on whether I prefer to do research / equities vs staying in energy and trading or doing commodity research. But regardless of the outcome and decisions, things will be fine. None of us are broke or will be going broke unless we're doing something we shouldn't and there's more to life than that ONE job or university you were aiming for.

If something doesn't work, you sit back and think about your next move, then you go out and you do it and you apply twice as much effort. It's not rocket science; someone will notice and you will be rewarded.
