Best Electric Razor/Shaver?
I have an extremely thick beard with sensitive skin and am wondering what you all use to shave in the morning. As a summer analyst this summer I used a Remington electric shaver I got a couple years ago which nearly cut my damn face off every morning. Fusion proglides (up to $5 a cartridge, btw) and other traditional razors are off the table as they really irritate my skin if I use them daily. So basically I'm willing to pay anything for the best shave possible. Maybe one of the shavers with the 3 independent heads? What do you all use?
Good timing. I was about to ask this question because I need something that won't pull my monkey fur when I'm trimming.
I'm tempted to go straight razor. Is anyone doing this and, if so, what's the average time taken per shave vs normal blade shave?
Are straight razors supposed to be better for sensitive skin than safety razors...? I always felt like my safety razors gave me a nice, smooth shave, as opposed to when I'm at the barber getting shaved using a straight razor. Shit feels like sandpaper.
Based on what I've read, straight razor gives you same shave as a new safety razor, but safety razor sharpness declines (less sharp = more face hacking), while straight razor keeps its sharpness via razor maintenance with a strop.
Straight razor is supposed to be high upfront capex, but much lower overall cost over years vs buying replacement safety razors.
Look up how to sharpen your safety razor. Too lazy to find it but I'm sure you can google it. Lifehacks, what would we do without them? Buy another razor instead.
@"ArcherVice" uses a straight razor. I use a safety razor. safety razorblades are super cheap, you can get a 100-pack for $30, and even if you change blades twice a week, that's still only $30 a year on razors, plus it takes less time than a straight razor.
to answer OPs initial question, either safety razor or straight razor will be fine with sensitive skin, anything with less than 3 blades is what you want.

I ditched my electric shaver and now I buy $0.97 4-pack disposable 2-blade razors and I have very sensitive skin. Less maintenance and works very well.
do any of you guys use an electric shaver daily? Are there any on the market that are able to get a really close shave - good enough for me to not use a blade everyday?
Straight razor or a safety razor. There is a learning curve with the straight razor and you do need to take your time.
I bought an electric shaver last month. Unfortunately, my kid accidentally dropped it.. It was broken down. I would like to know which electric shaver brand doesn't break easily.
I use a Gilette Fusion razor and clean up with the Philips Norelco 1250x. I do want to get back into using a straight razor.
I've found that rotary-head razors are better at getting certain areas and reciprocating/foil razors are better at other areas. Finally weaned myself off electric razors all together and much happier for it. If an electric razor hacks up your face, I can't in good conscience recommend a traditional razor. I now use a safety razor and enjoy it, but even the safety razors take practice, as the wrong angle, too much pressure, or overuse of the blade can quickly irritate the skin.
If you want to give non-electric shaving another chance, maybe look into some of the pre-shave oils and creams on the market. I've gotta think that the right product will help with irritation and make for a more enjoyable experience. Good luck!

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I have gotten into the age where I need to start shaving(getting peach fuzz ) I was wondering what level of prestige of razors I should get(what do targets/top firms like goldman sachs and bank of america ). I'm thinking of getting Mach 3, but recently I was told when talking to a CEO at a top bank(think BOAML, Federal Reserve) he only uses Mach 4.
If I use Mach 4 will I be overstepping by boundary ?

Please do tell me how someone can get a leg up on competition with the choice of razor? And, again, this is a forum to discuss Finance. If he is so interested, there is a multitude of websites that can be accessed.
When I interview a candidate, the first thing I always inspect is their shoes. Then I inspect their face, looking for missed spots while shaving, razorburn, nicks and cuts, etc. Evidence of such things can indicate a few issues about said candidate: 1) They shaved too fast. This could imply that they woke up too late to properly prepare for the interview, and have bad time management skills. 2) They unintentionally shaved sloppily. This could imply that they have less than perfect attention to detail, a serious concern for me. 3) They intentionally didn't take the time to shave properly. This shows a lack of commitment to really get a project over the finish line.
In all of this, the tool used to remove facial hair is of utmost importance, as an inferior grade razor or an old blade could cause razor burn, nicks, etc. The quality of a candidate is most overtly reflected in how he cares for his own body. If he cannot even take care of his face properly, how can I expect him to really put the sword to the grindstone when it counts without spinning his wheels on low hanging fruit?
If you are really concerned about Prestige, you should look at learning the art of the shave and not rely on a shitty razor for it. The ultimate prestige is being able to use a Straight Razor on your own... none of this pre-fab disposable shit you think is amazing.
