Best Keyboard, what do you use?

Shopping for a new keyboard and I'm wondering what are you using? Looking at mechanical but not at all savvy on the technicalities. I just need something better than the Dell desktop crap!**update- I got the Logitech MX mechanical w/ brown keys.

I personally have one of the more basic Alienware ones (this one specifically). I don't game much and it's nice to type one. It only has the crazy lights under the keyboard like a car with neon lights, but overall I like it, the store I bought it at had a good sale. It is very very basic, so I'd recommend something better. Would you use it for work or home?

At work they gave us those Logitech K350 "ergonomic" keyboards. It's better than what we had before, but not super great.

Commenting to follow. I currently use a Logitech G613 at home, not a mechanical but one of those 'clicky' membrane keyboards. It works well and I've messed w/ the custom keyboard shortcuts as well as the lighting to keep it a clean white. I've had it for like 6 years now, so it's starting to become less responsive. Would definitely consider upgrading.

Keychron K4V2 brown switch - Using this for the 96% layout. Wouldn't dare to use this at work since it's a mechanical keyboard.

Logi Mx keys - Best overall. Go-to keyboard. Won't regret it unless you're specifically looking for a mechanical keyboard.

Used to be a Das Keyboard fanboi, but Logitech K845 now.

Bonus to anyone else who remembers the simple majesty that was the original IBM model M PS/2.

Edit: Lest we not forget the Logitech G15 either. Those things were the definition of overengineered before the mech keyboard craze came about.

Model M was amazing.  It's one failure was the PS2 connector.  Dongles for it universally suck.

Mom wrote her thesis on punch cards.  I have them but can't read it.

I have an ultimate with the blank keykaps, but still keep using a simple $30 Red Dragon 10-keyless. (got a separate numpad as a lefty)

Also: The BBG keyboard sucks.  it's like a glorified apple keyboard typing-wise,  just get a b-swype, b-unit or the damn android app.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

This is entirely dependent on what you are using it for. My guess is you are not using it for games, but for work. I use my 75% for both. My brother builds custom keyboards so it is custom built from the board’s base, to the manually lubed switches, all the way to the custom key caps. Custom keyboards with lubed switches, specific switch-types, etc. sound unreal. I absolutely love the way mine feels/sounds. If you’re interested, I would definitely look into it because it’s a fun process to go through and the end results are often way better than anticipated (sound, feel, etc.). I think mine after everything cost around $3-400. If not, I would agree with almost all the recommendations to this point as they’re all solid boards. Cheers!

Razor Blackwidow V3 Pro with green switches. I really like the RGB when working late at night and it's wireless. It's also probably one of the fastest wireless mechanical keyboards in terms of the response time (only other that is comparable is Logitech I think).

Second this (but blue switches). The only issues are that my excel lags way more than the keyboard inputs, office computer driver install is a pain (especially as a lot of razer troubleshooting is effectively install/uninstall synapse), and having to run synapse (plus a few other razer-specific annoyances). Otherwise it’s great, and ridiculously comfortable. The downside is I now dread having to use non-low profile keebs and may have to get a second one for home.

I see we have a new kind of Bloods vs Crypts scenario, WSO style. MX Blues vs MX Reds. I'll be reds all day. Blues are just too sensitive. You just just about simply blow on the key and it registers.

I'm personally not a fan of mechanical keyboards as I can type far faster on regular ones, like the one on my Macbook, though I can see why people would prefer mechanical keyboards. When I'm typing based on my own thought process, I can average close to 70wpm on a standard keyboard, but that can drop to as low as 50 if it's something I'm copying or something that has a lot of punctuation.

I don't use the standard typing hand formation, and it would probably be too hard to change now. I feel like I'd be a lot slower on a mechanical keyboard. Not that any of this matters much for IB, but I still just prefer the standard design.

I would probably be down with trying out a flat mechanical one though.

Logitech makes great low-profile mechanical keyboards. Typing this comment out on a G915, but they have a cheaper non-RGB one that just came out.
Keykron K5 Full-size is another cheaper option.

Wasn't down for the massive and clunky traditional mechanical but wanted to try it out. Been a positive experience so far.

I feel like there's a mechanical keyboard for everyone, you just need to find it. My first mechanical keyboard had Cherry MX blue switches and I couldn't stand it (too fast which resulted in low accuracy). Second keyboard had Cherry MX Clear, and still didn't like those. Third had Green Switches (from Razor) and I love those
