Breaking into Wall Street Excel and Fundamentals Course

Hey guys,

I have saved some cash from my last internship and I was wondering if the "Excel and Fundamentals Course" is worth it.

It is something that I would like to explore and learn about while I intern this summer.

From your experience, what did you think about the course? Was it a good investment?

Any advice or opinions would be great!

I did it a ways back. It was quite useful for eventually being on the job, and helped me pick up models before other interns/analysts.

But strictly speaking, at your stage you should be worried about prepping for recruiting/interviews. And strictly speaking for bulge bracket ibd interviews, the course will not be a wise investment. Get a good interview guide.

I did it a few years ago. The entire course has been revamped and improved since I completed it, but I did go back and do a select few of the newer lessons and they were MUCH better in terms of quality. It was definitely worth it. I disagree with the poster who said that it isn't helpful for interview prep. Sure, you can get by with just the guides, but I felt that having completed the courses helped me understand "why" certain things were done, and I was able to go into an actual model, change inputs around, and see what changes and study for interviews that way.

The courses are definitely more beneficial for those who will be interning or starting full time. You will certainly be able to pick things up quicker than other interns/analysts. Just remember, modeling is only one aspect of the job, however.

If you have the money, go for it. I feel like I definitely got my money's worth. Plus, I still get emails about new case studies that get added, some of which are geared towards PE recruiting, so I am sure those will come in handy some day as well.
