Chances of getting into MFE or MFIN
I’m going into fourth year undergrad at a top Canadian school, and am looking to enter into one of the MFE or MFIN programs at CMU, Princeton, Sloan or similar schools. The following are my stats:
- Studying pure math and computer science, took a few grad courses, 3.7 gpa overall, 3.9 major gpa.
- Started a quant fund two years ago trading arbitrage and volatility with a few million aum.
- Doing research in mathematical finance, hoping to get published soon.
- Interned first year summer at a small quant prop.
My two worries are that I don’t have any big internships, and my gpa isn’t spectacular. Is there anything I should look to do to increase my chances?
All advice is appreciated.
You sound like a good candidate for a top program. Next step is to slaughter the GMAT or GRE.
Cheers, going to start grinding GRE asap.
Probably a good chance of acceptance everywhere except Princeton, where no one really has a good chance because of the low acceptance rate, though you’d definitely have a shot
Thats reassuring, thanks for the comment!
You are definitely among the top candidates.
Why is your major GPA so much higher than your overall GPA? Not a native speaker or bad at the humanities? If so, I recommend brushing up before you write your essays
