Classic car restoration

Finally restoring one of my dream cars (1968 Porsche 912) in the next couple months and originally I thought I wanted one color (Irish green) but now I'm caught between a few of them.

Obviously depending on the car you get sometimes you want a color that shows off its lines/curves or some other feature of the car.

Besides black, gray and silver, what's your favorite car color?

Thanks !

I have an M2 - Long Beach Blue is the most beautiful color I've laid eyes on since I can remember. It's loud, but subtle at the same time. It fits the angles of the car perfectly and doesn't hurt that the M2 is the best-looking BMW since the 1M and E46 series. There has not been a SINGLE time since I got mine that I haven't looked back as I locked it three, maybe four times.

Pure eye candy, with the byproduct of 405HP. This thing is gonna get me into trouble!

Here's some proof that the color is beautiful.

I dig it. I like that midnight violet color that was popular with one of the M3s. At night it would look black and during the day it would have that cool hue.

I’m a black car lover (and hater). I’m on my second black car and do a good job of keeping it clean. It just sucks that every single ding shows up. I used to live by a self serve car wash and could use the Rainx wax as often as needed for $2 or something. It always looked sharp. I then moved by a car wash that had a monthly unlimited rate of $22 or something. Again, always clean and sharp. Now the closest car wash is $12 a wash which gets a little expensive in the winter months.

If you're not married to the original color of the car, maybe consider bahama yellow if it's going over truffle brown - it is appropriate to that era and it matches the interior really nicely. Also, I totally get it with the provenance/history of Irish green but honestly there are a crap load (and by that I mean five or six) of Irish green long hoods running around, at least here in southern California. So you wouldn't necessarily stand out with that color choice.

What are the other Porsche colors you're considering? Edit - I should also ask what is the original color code on the car?

For Ford GT and Shelby Cobra:

- both blue with double racing stripe in white down center

Countach:

- White

F40, F50:

- Red (obviously)

Maybach:

- Black

Rolls Royce Cullinan:

- Midnight Metallic Blue

Lotus Exige:

- Orange and Black

Mercedes S:

- Black

Being a Porsche guy, paint it a PTS color. I’ve been a fan of Macadamia Metallic for a long time, however if you want something in the green range Oak green metallic, Brewster, jet green metallic, and Auratium green are all great historic colors.

Good question - for cars like a turbo s or pista metallic blue. For x5m competitions or 23 range rovers probably just white. Love cars but pretty basic when it comes to the color I would want for them.
