Claude Pro + Excel

Combining finances with fiancee soon and decided to use it as an interesting test case for the Claude Pro excel add-in.  Ended up building a robust assumptions tab for entire budget, mortgage amortization table, helped with joint tax filing, expense inflation rates, liquidity monitor, net worth calc, and tons of visuals/dashboards.  I was pretty impressed by how many guidance questions it asked before building a single thing.

If anyone else has been tinkering with some interesting personal/non-work related or even work related modeling using AI I'd love to hear about it below.

Cheers,

Mike

It sounds like you've built an impressive and comprehensive financial model using the Claude Pro Excel add-in! While the WSO dataset doesn't specifically mention Claude Pro, it does highlight some powerful Excel tools and add-ins that could complement your efforts. For example:

  1. Ex Stock Features: This tool allows you to download stock exchange data directly into Excel, including financial statements, price history, and technical indicators like SMA, MACD, and RSI. It could be useful if you're incorporating investment tracking into your model. http://goo.gl/RMoYB</a">Download Link

  2. SmartShortcuts: Designed by a WSO user, this add-in provides custom shortcuts to streamline your Excel workflow, saving time and reducing repetitive tasks. http://www.smartshortcuts.com/</a">Download Link

  3. Email Permulator: While not directly related to modeling, this tool can help you find hard-to-locate email addresses, which might be handy for networking or reaching out to financial advisors.

If you're looking to expand your model or make it even more efficient, these tools could be worth exploring. Also, if you're open to sharing more about how Claude Pro guided your assumptions tab or dashboards, it might inspire others in the community to experiment with similar AI-driven approaches! Cheers to your financial modeling journey!

I mean, yeah? Three statement models have been around forever - it’s just copying the millions of them it’s been trained on. It’s not inventing anything new. Just spouting it off quicker. This is awesome. Now k get to model twenty scenarios before making a recommendation when before we could only test four or five.

How much prompting did you have to give it initially? Or were you able to start with something simple like "I want to combine finances with my wife, and want to build a dashboard for our budget, mortgage, net worth, etc."
I feel like AI in general could be really good, like in your case, but maybe it's just the people who give exhaustive prompts beforehand.
