Being that they were replaced by the AH-64 (Apache) in the Army they were probably being flown by Marines.

If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses - Henry Ford

Uh, they're used to be some at the Navy Yard so that would be my initial guess.

Oh so you should be perfectly used to American air power protecting your life and liberty though I can see how it might be exciting to see it close up.

you sir, have an aptly selected username, it was exciting, and I've seen them before, good setting though, I've seen tits before too but I still get pretty excited

I was in a Huey/Cobra composite squadron back in the Corps. We flew the AH-1W models. I remember a crew coming back from a mission in Kuwait and the gunner (or RIO, or whatever the fuck you wanna call the guy in front) telling us how he guided a TOW missile through an Iraqi's chest and into a bunker.

For you kids who've never had a remote that was actually attached to your television, a TOW missile was wire guided, and the gunner had a joystick to maneuver the missile around after it was fired. They weren't terribly accurate, so to put one through a dude was pretty stellar.

epic.

I think the replacement is just a dual engined cobra with an armament overhaul. Could be wrong though

The majority of my enlistment was spent during the last years of the cold war, and at that time we used to screw with the Russians a lot and they would screw with us just as much. This one time we had a carrier group out at sea and a Russian Bear decided to fuck around and buzz the fleet. It sounds like a provocation, but I'm telling you this stuff happened all the time.

Before our aircraft carrier could scramble a couple of F-18's to chase him off, the gator freighter next to it (where my squadron was on det) managed to get a Cobra in the air after the Bear made its pass. Rather than try to chase the much faster aircraft, the Cobra pilot just dropped over the side of the ship and hovered a few feet off the water. When the Bear came around for another pass, the Cobra popped up weapons hot and made the Bear pilot shit himself. The Bear got out of there in a hurry.

I've seen A-10's flying low before over a lake back home and it is always impressive.

Just think about how it must feel to be a terrorist and look up, seeing the pure bad ass-ness of America coming for you!

Team America baby! Fuck yea!
