Does anyone else enjoy being a psychopath?

I relish in being a psychopath. Although I'm great at manipulating others into doing favors for me (I'd say I'm decently attractive and give off a very polished, driven personality), I very rarely feel appreciation for anyone in my life. I attribute much of my success in life to this, especially throughout high school and college when I've relied on others' help to climb to the top of organizations, only to then cut them out of my life when I saw no further use to them. As such, networking, dating, you name it, have always come easily to me. Yet this mindset also extends to my relationships: I am quite mercurial to the people closest to me, in that my friendships and relationships are very untenable, and someone who may see me as a friend I see as merely transactional, and am ready to cut them out of my life if they do something I interpret as disrespectful to my ego.

However, just today I was speaking with my parents, and they told me they had recently reconnected with a parent of one of my childhood friends. He and his family did huge favors for me back in middle school, and I remember how I eventually cut off ties with him in high school because I didn't see any use in his friendship. Remembering him, I felt a tiny tremor of remorse; this was a friendship that began in my childhood, before I became so toxic and so laser-focused on success. However this feeling faded as quickly as it appeared--though I still felt compelled enough to write this post. So to all you psychopaths working on the Street, how have you maintained this mindset at all, especially if you enjoy being a psychopath? Has it helped you climb the ranks at work? Or did you eventually come to terms with it? Thanks.

You aren’t a psychopath, and you aren’t a badass like your post describes either.  You’re just some overworked loser who spends too much time on LinkedIn and sees himself as a character in Wall Street or Barbarians at the Gate.  And believe me: most people can see right through your nonsense, they just go along with it because they don’t want to be mean.

I bet they get off on thinking they're Patrick Bateman in real life. Especially though they can't even do the research to know that description isn't psycophathy but is actually just sociopathy. And on top of that sociopaths don't go out bragging about their disconnect with consequence in their search for dominance.

The poster formerly known as theAudiophile. Just turned up to 11, like the stereo.

lol first post nails it. great work sir. OP bragging about being a soft dick and losing out on friendships and relationships to win the grand prize of.....being a consultant! hey guess what buddy, almost everyone else at your office became a consultant and also managed to have friends and not be a wannabe...lol

Hahaha. You and everyone who upvoted your post have an impressive lack of social awareness. You're just another insecure kid who never grew out of his edgy teen phase. Your previous post is titled "Depressed new grad" where you whine about your inferiority complex. Last I checked, Patrick Bateman isn't a middle class fuck making 120k/yr. Also, don't tell anyone you work on Wall Street. Consulting isn't Wall Street. You're not fooling anybody and the current image of yourself isn't real.

I love your kind. I really do. I don't have the highest EQ either, since I've crawled through mud and piss most my adult life, which isn't good for developing people skills. But when I see you sheltered pussies strive to be what they see in their little Hollywood movies because of your outstanding lack of identity, I feel above you.  I'm younger than you, but seeing your kind makes me feel more mature.

Anyway, I must have missed this scene in American Pyscho where Patrick Bateman goes on an Internet forum to get his ego and asshole mercilessly ripped apart by college kids.

Haha. Satire is funny, or at the very least, amusing. You would have to be a dolt to find this amusing, and this comes from a person who generally likes dark humor. The fact you think people like this don't exist reveals your naivety. Sweet summer child, you haven't crawled through enough mud or piss to understand some of the people we share our world with.

You know what firms have the best name recognition? Walmart and McDonald’s. You should’ve recruited for those instead, since as you said, money is of no concern to you. Or maybe run an edgy Tiktok page filming yourself do edgy dances to edgy pop music. You seem to be really into this psychopath niche. It'd be a good fit for you--Tiktok also has better name recognition than any consulting firm.

I would also say that I am immensely attractive, polished and seductive. However, I never needed to rely on barbaric measures such as manipulation to further my career or socioeconomic standing (I was born into gigantic wealth). I exploit my dashing looks and cavalier personality to dissect girls. Also, did you know I'm utterly insane? I love taking girls out for dates then physically abusing them.
