Excel Spill Error - Been gone a while...
Hey guys, I was a regular contributor several years ago. Maybe I'm back, I don't know, lol
I got busy with life, deals and brokerage...even closed a deal with a Monkey.
I'm really struggling with Excel now over what seems like total nonsense. What is the deal with the Spill error. I realize you can avoid it be clearing out cells below the error but why TF is this even necessary.
I've read this error is only on the online 365 version of Excel. I went to download excel to my laptop vs using 365 online, I was able to avoid the error for an hour but then Microsoft being what they are, 365 grabbed a hold of my downloaded file and made it part of excel on 365 and the error is coming back. Ugh.
I feel like decades of basic excel is out the window.
Am I the only one with this problem?
Are you forgetting to type in formulas? Say you had a column you wanted to sum up (like Total Operating Expenses). You would have to do it like this:
Example you have 3 expenses:
Property Tax: $100
Management: $50
Utilities: $50
You need to write the formula as =SUM( select subject cells).
What I think is happening is you are just highlighting the expenses and getting a spill error instead of summing.
Maybe if you post a screenshot with the formula of spill error, we can help further.
Also please unmerge any cells if you have cells merged together somewhere.
