Fruitless job search advice

I thought this EfinancialCareers Insight ('All Rights reserved') is worth mentioning for experienced candidates still without a job.

Seven ways of remaining employable while you’re unemployed:

1. Stay in contact with your clients.

2. Keep on trading your own money.
This applies whether you're a trader or a researcher.

3. Drop all hope of getting a guaranteed bonus.

4. Drop all hope of getting an increase in your basic salary.

5.Think about getting into the kind of jobs banks are hiring for.

“When asked the secret of his success, the famous Canadian ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky said he went to where the puck was going to next,” is saying Michael Moran, CEO and founder of talent consultancy agency 10 Eighty. "Have a view of where the marketplace is going in the next 15-18 months and to put yourself in a position where you’ll be sought-after in future.”

6. Establish a network of core supporters who’ll testify to your
amazingness.

7. Freelance for your former clients.

The Insight goes on with useful tips for using recruiters, even if they have no job for you now

1. Ask for intelligence.

2. Be available.

3. Seek advice on what additional skills you might need

4. Be sympathetic.
Sometimes banks revoke headcount without notice -It's not your recruiter's fault.

5. Stay regular.
Stay in touch at least once a month.
