I’ve read more self help books than I can count. My 2nd all time favorite was “The Subtle Art of not Giving a Fuck” by Mark Manson. Highly recommend this.

But my biggest recommendation for achieving dreams and all time favorite book and self help book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Really makes you think. Some people hate this book, others love it. I think anyone who has came into face with adversity on the way of achieving their dreams will really love this book and look at things differently. I still think about it in my head occasionally and will be rereading it when I can.

I started the Subtle Art of Not Giving AF along time ago and stopped mid-read. Might have to pick it back up after I finish with this one. Thanks for the recommendations!

Love The Alchemist - have read it 3 or 4 times now. However, I read the meaning as something different. In my opinion, it's about the struggle of always striving for some goal and some pot of gold over the rainbow when the real treasures in life are right in front of you the whole time.

Hmm, I thought that was the message the author was tryna convey? (as in it's not a different view from consensus)

The protagonist sets off to find treasure in a faraway land, only to realize the treasure was right where he started. It's pretty literal

These are some of the books I really think are top tier for the mental part and reread or read parts of on a regular basis:

Meditations, Aurelius

A Guide to the Good Life - The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy, Irvine

The practising Stoic, Farnsworth

Tao of Seneca. Ferriss

What to say when you talk to yourself, Helmstetter

50th law, Greene

The confident mind, Zinsser

Also I recommend listening to founders podcast by David Senra, the guy makes podcasts on books on entrepeneurs and other great leaders from Vanderbilt to Larry Ellisson and Buffett and distills the most important lessons he learned from the books, i found that stuff very inspirational and they provide good lessons. Even if you are not an entrepeneur.

Might’ve already been said but Atomic Habits is fantastic for general self help.

More specific:

For mindset: - Meditations by MA

People skills: -How to win friends and influence people (and practice)

Heard a lot about Goggins book “Can’t hurt me” but never read it.

Big thing with self help is to actually apply what you’re reading about, or else it’ll turn into the mental masterbation of “Look at how much progress I’m making!”

Man's search for meaning, my opinion. I think the title gives away the idea somewhat. But you must read this book. The book provides profound insights into the human spirit's resiliency and the importance of having a sense of purpose. After facing something, we all will forget the predicament. but if you think about it, we got through it. That's what makes us human.
