This is a good one, I'm going to try to do the same. Combo of cutting out short-form content and swapping screen-time before bed with reading to hopefully improve sleep quality.

Coming straight from the heart: being born in a third-world, non-target country, I often find myself deeply inspired by the posts on this site. They push me to work harder with the hope of meeting some of you in person someday—maybe at a superday, who knows?

Right now, my goal is to get into my target school. While it primarily feeds into MO roles (with FO roles reserved for just 4-5 exceptional candidates, usually after an MBA), I dream of someday lateraling into FO roles.

I understand that being born in the "wrong" place but with the "right" goals means I have to put in 10x the effort compared to others. But when you truly want something, there are no excuses—just the hunger to achieve it. That hunger doesn’t just push you forward; it shapes you into a better, more determined person.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year! Please take a moment to realize the privilege you have if you were born in a first-world country, and don’t forget to be grateful for it.

Cheers!

Would really suck if I can't achieve the realistic goals.

Realistic:

1. To hopefully gain employment in a job I feel suitable after finishing my MBA 6+ months ago.

2. Read 10+ books this year. Ended this year at 7.

3. Regain the net worth I had pre-MBA by early 2026.

Maybe:

1. Attend a F1 race weekend.

2. Possibly move to NYC by end of this year.

1) Read 50 books. This 2024 fell short at 30/50, but in 2023 I hit the 50/50.

2) Get in better shape by being more consistent in hitting the 10k daily walking steps and lifting 4/5 days per week. The plan is to lose 30lbs through recomposition i.e. losing fat and building muscle.

3) Build a productive home desk

4) Cut time spent on things that either sabotage my attention span, distract me, or in general feed negativity/trigger me emotionally.

5) Be more proactive in meeting people and building deeper non-transactional connections

Happy New Year

I am experimenting with having a bunch of smaller realistic goals to remind me to take time to do things throughout the year, like:

  • Nurture an exotic plant
  • Call family at least ten times
  • Visit three countries previously not visited
  • Be on a boat on the open sea
  • Sleep with 36 beautiful girls
  • Learn to cook three new healthy meals
  • Read ten books

Yes, mostly apps, but also from being out. Hooked up with over 30 last year, just under 80 the year before. It's a bit draining as it does require going out all the time and going on dates quite a bit. About three per month seems doable without being too demanding.

I am experimenting with having a bunch of smaller realistic goals to remind me to take time to do things throughout the year, like:

  • Nurture 8 exotic plants
  • Call family at least twenty times
  • Visit eight countries previously not visited
  • Be on a 100ft+ yacht on the open sea
  • Sleep with 88 beautiful girls
  • Learn to cook nine new healthy meals
  • Read twenty books
"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Walking 6,000 steps per day (so far in January averaging 5,800).  Doing more walks and jogs outside.  Previous year’s average was in the 4K steps per day range.

Eat less cholesterol and fat.  Substituting soba noodles for instant ramen.  No more burgers and fries unless on rare occasions.  Last year, I took a cholesterol test with my annual physical exam the day after eating two cheeseburgers and fries and it was higher than I imagined - it was a wake up call.  Maybe it was a fluke, maybe not.  Eat more veggies.  Paying more attention to micro nutrients deficiencies and getting more vitamin D (from the sun).  Good reason to take your shirt off when it’s sunny outside.  I’m going to make changes to my diet, exercise more, and retake my cholesterol test.
