How come some people choose to not update their LinkedIn profile after getting a job?

I've seen this with some people I went to undergrad with.

Imagine they are seeking a job, and their profile says "Graduating December 2019, Actively Seeking Roles in Finance." Then, I've seen them out and about, and find out they are working Treasury Function XYZ at firm ABC, etc.

I've also seen it the other way - knowing that people have lost their job, due to layoffs or being fired, and they don't put an end date on it.

These are people who are still actively liking other people's job updates, etc, so it's obvious that they are still on LinkedIn.

What gives? Are they trying to keep their doors open? Are they embarrassed to admit they got a job below what they were striving for?

Why do some people not post their vacation pics to instagram, or worse, post them 4 months later? People value social media differently.

It's far weirder to me that you're on LinkedIn enough to notice that specific people are liking others' posts while not updating their profile.

1) some people are not spending their lives online, it happens more often than you think 2) they hate their job and don't want to identify with it 3) the job they currently hold is not on their resume and doesn't fit the narrative. I have deleted several jobs off my resume and also my LI 4) some only use LI to find a job or before they need a new one, in between they don't care 5) they are late on child support payments and alimony and don't want their ex to know about it 6) they have stalkers or enemies who shouldn't know where they work

I have heard and seen all of the above.
