How Do You Know If You Are Doing Well?

How do you know if you are performing well in your internship and 'clicking' with the team?

I do my best in the work I produce and make sure I socialise with all the team as much as possible but I'm not sure how to review/improve myself as I'm not sure what my weaknesses are in their eyes.

I have asked my manager if there is a 'half way through the internship' review but there is no such thing. We left it as informal feedback although hes quite busy all the time so I'm not too sure he will be able to provide much feedback.

Any ideas?

As long as you get your shit done and don't get in the way too much you should be golden. Interns are annoying to most people to be honest. Just make sure you make intelligent decisions and don't ask too many stupid questions that you could answer yourself by staying an extra hour or so after work.

In my opinion, it all comes down to whether or not we like the intern or not....We "ding" certain outstanding applicants because they were annoying. This one girl for example, she just wouldn't shut up and always had some shitty story to tell, she was deliberately trying to outshine the other interns. She had awesome grades and was fairly bright but she was annoying as hell.

In the corporate entry-level world, it's not about how much insight you offer, it's mostly about how well you do the tasks no one else wants to and how your attitude is towards them.

One more thing, don't be a kiss-ass. Don't send that extra useless email thanking your boss or someone else who sits above you in hierarchy. They know you're trying to kiss-ass and everyone will know too.

Long story short, be yourself, work harder than anyone else and be genuinely polite.

G'luck.

Analysts & associates don't care about socializing with the interns that much. A few words here and there does the trick. In my experiences, the things that are important are to do the work that's assigned to you, take your time to do it to the best of your ability, spend as much time necessary to research any question you have or anything you're unsure about, and don't be annoying.

Try asking everyone for coke hookups. They'll think you're a cool breh.

Never actually call the hookups. Coke is bad for you. You just want the image.

Maybe retreat to the bathroom a few times a day in a panic clutching your nose. Emit random, drawn-out sniffles from your cublicle.

Always be either very tired-looking or very wired-looking. Never really be either.
