Internal Gossip

We are now back to 4 days in the office. With the slow down, seems gossip and drama is circulating pretty strongly.

Has anyone experienced this since return to office. Seems far worse now than pre pandemic. You have to watch everything you say or it'll spread like wildfire but to far greater proportions now. Also seems a lot of attitude from younger junior staff when being corrected even if they truly fucked up something. Back when I was junior I'd get screamed at, now you have to be so polite when reprimanding and you get tude back.

Am I a boomer now, not even close age wise, or is there a new generational shift?

Does anyone else wish it went back to the old days in the bullpen?

Absolutely, and without a doubt. Brushing off office gossip might be a simpler task (even if it's on steroids after this pent up demand), but contending with the attitudes of junior colleagues can be quite challenging. Some of them come across as excessively confident despite having limited knowledge, and they seem to overlook the valuable opportunity to learn from those with more experience, especially from individuals who have held the same role in the past. It's as if they believe they run the show, and unfortunately, their display of manners is rather limited. My hunch is that they began working remotely, comfortably tucked away at home with minimal supervision. This situation might have fostered a sense of entitlement, shielding them from the guidance of seasoned professionals. Now that they're back in the office, they're experiencing the reality of working alongside and learning from their more experienced colleagues.

Agreed. But they need to understand the limits + what attitude is rewarded and what isn’t. At some point they will hit a wall. Probably getting hit via the bonus can be a healthy way to drive the message home.
