Investment Banking/Trading show on Showtime or HBO

Ok, so I was just thinking. What would you guys think of an Entourage type show (for adults) starring an investment banking unit trying to lock down new deals, dealing with customers that also intertwines with a prop trading group that deals with the day to day life on the trading floor. All characters having Ari Gold like personalities, with some differences obviously, living "the wall street life". A mixture of serious action and humor. I think it could be a hit.

There is something similar out, not sure what network, I have only seen it in chunks on youtube. It's called "wall street warriors". It following various people who all have differently jobs withing finance, PE/traders/HF manager etc.

Some if its interesting some parts are funny. Worth looking up.

I think it would be great - there are so many opportunities for humor. They could insert knowing references to dealbreaker memes, models and bottles, "damn it feels good to be a banker," and other infamous tales of excess. This type of humor could complement the more pedestrian jokes that mainstream audiences would get. The writers would, however, need to make it accurate.

Mad Men is completely different. It covers a completely different era (which contributes greatly to the show's appeal) and a completely different industry.

Wall Street Warriors is just reality TV. You can watch it on Hulu. Most of the funny parts come from king douche Tim Sykes.

I would fucking LOVE a show like that.

thats what im saying, if only i had contacts in the entertainment industry. i can see it being hilarious, as well as shed a little light on what Wall Street does. may or may not be a good thing haha

Control your own destiny, or someone else will.

CartwrightWall Street warriors were the biggest group of tools of all time. That one chick worked at FNYS, the "PM" has since been indicted for running a ponzi, and we all know the amazing douchedom of Tim Sykes.

This idea was kicked around by HBO during the boom but obviously certain market conditions probably killed the prospect.

Which PM are you referring to? Parker Quillen from the first season?

GldnHndCffsActually, I know the guy that created Entourage was trying to make a similar show except based on Hedge Fund guys in NYC. But he put it on hold indefinitely..
justinbobbyI know Doug Ellin, who is the head writer of Entourage, was reported to be working on a new series for HBO that centers around hedge fund managers and their friends and colleagues. Although he recently said it is being put on hold which is unfortunate.

Bravo

If you look at pop culture today - fashion, music, etc - the 60s and the 80s are very much alive; hence everybody wearing Wayfarer sunglasses. I think a show about trading is a great idea, but it should be set in the 1980s. Really, 'Liar's Poker' should just be a TV show.

I think the reasons a show like this wouldn't work include:

(1) Public opinion against the financial sector (2) Finance may have seen its heyday (3) It would be difficult to make it distinct from Mad Men
