Job satisfaction and purpose. And at what cost?

I know a lot of people, especially working in the west coast, in these media startups, that have these strange jobs. They have majors in journalism, business, economics and their job is to do some menial task. Just like from the movie Jexi, where the protagonist has a Journalism major but his job is to post pictures of cats that look like Ryan Gosling. IRL there is also this phd student that struggles to make a living in NC.

I feel like we are just chasing these numbers and spending 70% of our lives at work places, doing something that maybe we don't want to do. I posted this on Blind too and got so many mixed responses, so wanted to see what this group of professionals think about this.

Though I haven't watched Jexi, I'm from San Francisco and can totally relate to what you mean by that!

Yes there is jobs like that and yes they could possibly be paid as much as a scientist in some states. There is several jobs here that are a complete underuse of talent and over paid for the task.
