Larry David moment: apologies or ignoring the incident?

I must’ve watched to many episodes of curb your enthusiasm. I was talking to a number of junior analysts about someone pretty high up in the potential client firm being a “pretty, pretty good” in media, When the very same person walked in, heard the comment, and acted as if he were not offended at all. should I write him a note to apologize?

I wish... I don’t think he recognized the line, judging from his reaction. So the predicament is: Do I pretend it did not happen or do I try to explain?
