Based on the most helpful WSO content, there are already some ski resorts that cater to a more exclusive and less crowded experience, though they may not explicitly market themselves as "limited ticket" resorts. Here are a few ideas and insights:

  1. Private Ski Clubs: Some resorts or areas have private ski clubs or sections that limit access to members or those willing to pay a premium. Examples include Yellowstone Club in Montana, which is ultra-exclusive and offers a private skiing experience for its members.

  2. High-End Resorts with Limited Capacity: Resorts like Deer Valley (Utah) are known for capping the number of lift tickets sold daily, ensuring a more luxurious and less crowded experience. This aligns with your idea of exclusivity and trendiness.

  3. Heli-Skiing or Cat-Skiing: For those who want to avoid lift lines entirely, heli-skiing or cat-skiing offers access to untouched powder in remote areas. While expensive, it provides the ultimate exclusive skiing experience.

  4. Luxury Ski Packages: Some resorts offer VIP packages that include private guides, exclusive lift access, and luxury accommodations. Resorts like Aspen Snowmass or Vail often cater to this crowd.

If you're looking to create or find a resort that embodies this concept, focusing on exclusivity, premium services, and capped ticket sales could be a winning formula. It’s a niche market, but one that wealthy ski enthusiasts would likely embrace!

Try heli skiing. Better yet own the heli.

Yeah I've wanted to go heli boarding for years. I've settled on the fact that I would only go if I could hire a professional videographer to capture the beautiful moment. It is on my bucket list. Good recommendation!

They've existed in secret forever.  30 years ago my father and I had Great Gorge permanent bondholder passes that a friend of his gifted him when he got too old to ski. it was a laminated photo pass that got us into the ski patrol line.  It didn't matter how long the line was, we were always second in line or so as soon as we hit the lift.

Because of the Vernon Valley merger I also got to go into the water park in the summer.  That was really insane. Johnny Knoxville of Jackass fame made a movie about the place. I still prefer the Defunctland piece on it though "the world's most deadly amusement park."

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

These exist: Yellowstone Club, for example.

It's just that lots of people have the same opinion as you, so the price is set higher than you can afford.

Yellowstone Club is not the same as what OP is talking about. YC is totally private. OP said a limited ticket resort which implies public but a limited number of tickets sold each day to ensure no crowds. It also isn't the same as a lift that lets you skip the lines like another poster mentioned. Even if you skip the line its going to get tracked out quicker on powder days and you potentially have to deal with crowds on the groomers.

This nonsense is why skiing is dying. If you don't want to ski around other people just earn your turns like a man.
