Mac vs pc for college
I want to get a new laptop before going to college. I know that the corporate world runs on windows, but macs recently have proven to be great bang for your buck. What do y’all suggest?

Microsoft Office shortcuts are far different on Mac than Windows. Windows is more compatible with various business programs that you'll have to install during your time in college (eg. Risk, Minitab). Troubleshooting minitab on Mac is a nightmare, ask my friend. Choose Levono, fast and sturdy laptops.
Every one of my friends who has a Mac regrets it, or are too incompetent on excel to care
Okay, that solidified my decision lol
The pretty, high-quality devices are Macs. People know their value, brand and how easy the UI is.
But if you are focusing on Excel, prepping for the business world, and don't care about whether there is an Apple on the lid - go with a PC. you are not blogging or becoming a social media influencer - you want to get into the right bank or company. That world, as you have said, runs on Microsoft Windows.
Buy something with longevity of hardware, not brevity of name. Dell XPS 13/15 or Lenovo Thinkpad X1. A bit pricey, I agree, but while neither of those, my Dell G5 has been with me four years now? And it'll still run rings around some other generic clap-trap-top that's "bleeding edge" today.
I have a Lenovo P1 and a Macbook that's a few years old and they're both beasts of machines. I use my Mac for personal usage, and Lenovo for work. Both of these are expensive so if you're looking for something cheaper I'd go Dell or Lenovo that's within your budget
I just can’t seem to get over the price to performance for the MacBook. $800 for an m1, comparable pc is like $1100+ :(
I don't think you can go wrong with a Macbook personally but if you're trying to learn excel well might not be the smartest. Could also buy the machine on credit and pay it off over time
Lenovo from Best Buy with the 2 year complete protection warranty. Yes you can drop it in the bathtub and they will give you a new one.
I use a Mac and have a small desktop for when I need to use excel. Mac is great for me for personal use because of iCloud backups and it’s compatibility with my iPhone
If you had to go back and do it again, would you keep the 2 computer set up, or would you just go for a windows laptop?
I'd stick to this setup. If you want to game, a windows desktop is better than a windows laptop anyway. If I was constrained by budget though, I would probably just get a cheap windows laptop
