Masayoshi Son - what the fuck is his problem?

Masayoshi Son made one of the greatest investments of all time when he turned $20M into $100B with Alibaba. But recently, his track record has been shit. SoftBank's Vision Fund has had made serious blunders with WeWork and other failed investments.

Why are people stupid enough to fund WeWork and Juicero and Quibi? Or even "legit" publicly traded "tech" companies like The RealReal or Casper? Or even Uber or Lyft or DoorDash? What the fuck is wrong with institutional investors?

I do get the appeal of having very quick, entertaining shows that you can watch for 15 min end to end while eating a meal.

That being said, I can also just continue to watch youtube videos of Gordon Ramsay going ballistic for free, so the business model's not all that competitive.

There is already Tiktok, which is a bs business, higher league of absurdity, yet idiots --- most people are idiots --- still pay. I'm not saying I'm not an idiot but I didn't pay anything for Tiktok.

Eh? That thing is the equivalent for zoomers that youtube was for millennials.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

Turning 20m to 100b will give you a lot of leeway with gps lol - especially in the current capital rich but opportunity scarce environment. Then again, maybe we're just too rarted to see Masayoshi Son's 200iq bobby axelrod plays

Even Ali baba is a fraud, once that ever gets found out his whole Ponzi Scheme utterly collapses - causing 100 billion dollars in losses to banks and creditors.

The answer is that he has too much capital. A $100 billion fund is too large. There simply is not enough return out there to fill $100 billion of investment, so he ends up investing into crap companies in the pursuit of yield.
