Career Resources
The additional funding is going to maintenance lol. You sound like you have no idea what you want to do. I'd take great care in your decision to join a soul crushing bureaucracy.
Particularly if you are doing military finance. I want to stab myself thinking about it.
You REALLY need to have a phone conversation with some vets. Archer knows what he's talking about but PM me and we can have a chat. Also use LinkedIN to find folks.
My advice is not to overestimate how helpful it is. Yes firms generally like vets. No, they do NOT generally like vets more than people with industry experience. I have seen vets place very easily into supply chain and ops roles but those going elsewhere tend to have a more difficult time.
Consider is course of action: take the ROTC class as just a class while on college. Take the internship. Get good grades and workout like crazy. THEN join the National Guard by attending OCS. I think you will find the experience generally more pleasant than the bureaucratic clusterfuck the regular Army is(some guard units can be bad too) but you will still get the benefits of being a "veteran".
I have heard from other vets in AM/PWM (I'm not in it, I'm not the type of personality that job takes) that being a vet is a huge asset in those fields because people tend to perceive you as being more trustworthy than they otherwise would.
But we should talk. I probably am going to try to talk you out of that but I will do it telling you what the job was really like.
First things first, doing that many degrees to go in the army is a waste of time. I would stop at finance and Econ. Second point, the odds of getting into Ranger Batt as a pog are shit at best. Believe it or not, batt driven more by supply and demand than you would think. So if you want to get into Batt the best route is 11 series, maybe as a fister or medic. Also, why the fuck do you want to go into ranger Batt and do office work? That is unacceptable. If you want to do military back office work go Air Force, seriously, your quality of life will be up substantially. If you want to be a real DICK than go and join a group that actually goes out and does shit. There was a time in the army when these schools were reserved for actual war fighters, not the people who fuck up their pay and give bad coordinates for a raid.
