Agree, although I've never driven anything close to an f40. The most fun I've ever had driving was a (budget) pre-runner through Johnson Valley.

Anything that you can drive stress-free is far better than the anxiety that comes with owning a Ferrari.

I’m a firm believer that it is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. The most fun I have had in cars were beating the shit out of old Toyotas and Miatas in parking lots or on back roads. There’s something religious about a teenage kid ripping a 90s shit box with a manual transmission without care.

lol yeah right on - pushing sh!tboxes to the limit in HS was the dream. My friend and I used to go full speed over this jump in a Chevy Corsica - was a blast. Also, when it rained we would blast the e brake in parking lots doing doughnuts. And some people would put lunch trays on the back wheels and just fish tail everywhere in a parking lot. Ahhhh those were the days.

Cars that handle like boats is generally not a good thing. It means shitty steering, shitty suspension, shitty tires.

Yeah I’m sure the Rolls Royce was shitty lol, just cause it’s not a purist drivers car wouldn’t make it super fun  and super cool to drive.

My F80 M3 competition 6MT easily. I'm not one to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars driving someone else's car that's nicer than mine, and I don't come from a place where I can drive my friend's dad's Huracan.

Up next for me is probably a 570s, though the depreciation on the MC20 is making those intriguing as well. I know I'll never move past mid-level supercars (F8, or similar), but honestly I'm already way ahead of where I'd ever thought I would be and I'm ok with that.

Probably in 2-3 years. I am an AS1 now and want more savings under my belt before making a purchase like that. They go for about $140k. But the plan wouldn't be to keep it forever; I would probably resell it in another couple years and retain most of the value that way, otherwise I feel like it's definitely more of a stretch financially.

MC20 is an extremely underrated car. I drove one about six months ago, steering feels incredible and acceleration kind of feels similar to McLarens.

My buddies dad had a kit car Cobra I think that was insane to drive. Incredibly manual and pretty fast. Got out of it tired and sweaty but it was super cool to drive.

I do a lot of my networking through cars and know a lot of cool people through my passion for supercars. Here’s a list of some of my favorites I’ve driven.
991.2 GT3 Akrpovik exhaust and headers
992.1 GT3RS Straight piped
McLaren 600LT Stock
Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder Ryft Exhaust
991.2 Turbo S Stock

Love talking about cars feel free to reply or PM with questions!

Ive never driven a Turbo S but the 992 Turbo S was far and away the wildest car Ive ever been in. I have limited experiences in cars of that tier but what I have tried out (e.g., V10 R8) simply didnt compare in the slightest. It was leagues wilder than even some of the other "nicer" 992 911s (e.g., C4S).

Curious how you get such excellent opportunities to experience such unique and rare cars?

+1 to the S2000. Especially the models from before 2004 when you could run the RPMs to 8,900. Brilliant fun to play with that kind of power band.

Agreed. Drives like a street legal go kart. Skidpad is off the charts - turns on a dime.

Shelby GT500 turbo charged with a bunch of extra custom work for a metalhead I was friends with in high school. Nothing compares to the sound an American muscle car makes. I've driven Ferraris, Lambos, Astons, and while they might be "better" none of them came close in terms of fun.

My 991.1 GT3 and the 675LT are the best cars I've driven. The 675LT really impressed me - it is extremely raw and the steering is second to none. I am not typically a fan of turbo cars, but the 675LT is an exception and I've toyed with the idea of picking one up as they have depreciated considerably. The GT3 is like a go-kart for the road. Much less power than the 675LT, but mine is straight piped and sounds like a F1 car. The main gripe with the GT3 is it needs to be pushed hard to have fun in; all the power and drama is at 9K and the car is boring below triple digit speeds. I still far prefer the GT3 to a Huracan, although a Huracan is more fun just driving around town (more exciting at lower speeds).

My favorite car is still my old F-Type SVR. Opened my eyes to grand tourers. The exhaust noise was incredible, the car was very fast, and it is fun to drive hard and casually. I could drive it for hours and not be tired.

I have a GT4RS coming later this year which I am excited for.

Was walking on the street this morning and thought I saw a Lambo or Ferrari parked off in the distance.  Got closer and it turned out to be a recent Corvette.  They've taken the styling to a level where it has more of the supercar look now.  Anyone know if there's substance behind that?  Or is it just a look, similar to what Kia is doing?  Growing up we thought of corvettes as a tier above the muscle cars (Camaro/Mustang) but still a tier below a 911.  Now, just based on cosmetics and pricing, its hard to not see it as more in the 911 tier.  Is that right?  Or maybe it was always up there and we were just wrong before?

Yeah the Corvette E-Ray is priced just below the 911. And this Corvette goes 0-60 faster than the fastest 911 (Turbo S). 2.5 seconds versus 2.6 seconds. The Corvette styling has gone to the extreme and I think it’s pretty cool.

1989 Porsche 911. The last of the classic 911 and with the desirable G50 transmission. Not fast by modern standards, but it doesn't need to be. It's a blast and a nostalgic experience.

Porsche 718 Spyder...as great as 911s are, I don't know if they're in the same league in terms of driving enjoyment (then again, I've never driven any of the hardcore GT3/GT2 911s)

Agree 100%. Heard it is one of the most fun to drive cars out there. And also the fact that Lotus made a nice interior in it.

I got the chance to take a porsche 918 spyder for a spin and that was nuts

I've heard you tell this story in real life and didn't have the heart to tell you then that the 918 Spyder is potentially the least respected Porsche in history and known in racing circles as a "Nazi sled" and that you sound dumb when you mention this among real drivers.

I’ve driven Ferraris, Porches, and a few other high end cars - for me the most fun was the Mercedes S class.

Don’t remember the year or exact model - but that S class was like driving on clouds, turned on a dime, and had great acceleration. The best of all worlds of luxuriousness + performance.

Drove a Carrera S and a Turbo on track. The Turbo is faster, sure, but the Carrera S was incredible. I turned down an extra session in the Turbo just to drive it more.

Tried a Cayman as well, was also fun but a bit sketchier for me.

If you enjoy the fun of fear, a crappy old Chevy worktruck can also be 'fun.' Didn't drive straight, shuddered in the wind, and you could feel the NVH throughout your whole body, but definitely an experience.
