New Investment Strategy: Kidnapping

With all the smearing of the financial industry of late, I figured I might as well write about a true bankster today. Well, actually Zeno Daigre was just a hedge fund employee back in 2008, when he kidnapped the daughter of a check cashing joint proprietor.

To top of this hard to digest meal, ZD went with a $20,000 ransom request for dessert. He recently took an Alford plea, meaning that he did not admit guilt but acknowledged that there was enough evidence to convict. There's still no details as to the actual sentence he will serve, but with all the craziness swirling around the industry lately, this story seems to take the cake. According to the report:

Zeno Daigre allegedly kidnapped and held the mother of a woman who managed a check cashing service at gunpoint as she was getting into her car. He then drove her car and ordered the manager's mother to call her daughter at the check-cashing business.

After the daughter picked up the phone, Daigre got on the line to demand the she empty the safe into a bag, which he later picked up, according to the report.

WTF, dude? Was the overnight repo situation that far out of hand? Can you imagine Dick Fuld storming the NY Fed with a crew of mercenaries with an eye patch, snarling: "Where's me gold?"

For every Raj and Lloyd whom the media vilify, a Zeno slips through the cracks. In reality, all I can hope for is that this dude and Eliot Spitzer never get to party together. The last thing we need is a tandem which buys ho***rs and then robs and kidnaps them after the work is done.

Just goes to show that there is no guarantee that those prestigious exit opps will lead to a better life. In fact, between this guy, the hedge fund stripper and the idiot overlord who once oversaw Wall Street we have had a better class of clowns recently than Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey.

I can't to wait to see which industry idiot is next in the headlines. This goes to show that we have nothing to fear from regulators and populists. Even if Wall Street ceased to exist as a financial Mecca, it would only morph into the greatest daytime soap ever shown.
