NYC Moving/Living Dilemma

I'm moving to NYC this summer to start in IB at a BB. I don't start until the first week of July and training is 5-6 weeks, but I'll have to be up there in mid-june for some preliminary things. The person I'm living with is a friend from school who also got a job in NYC, but he doesn't start until September, so he won't move in until mid-august. Was wondering what everyone thinks I should do about my living situation for the summer. I could either get a 2 bed room place and hope that I can sublet it out in like 2 weeks notice and with basic pictures, (I will not have viewed the apt in person yet). Or should I try to sublet a studio from someone for the summer, and look for a 2 bd apt while I'm there and in training, and then just move again in August when he gets there. Also how do people go about moving in the city, do you have to hire someone, orr rent your own truck? How much would the moving again option cost? If its a lot, it might not be worth moving again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Live in the NYU dorms, I had a friend who did it and it was really cheap (like 600/month) and tons of fun. It's probably a pain to drive a UHaul around NYC, for moving you can try hiring a guy or a guy with a truck on craigslist.

Hey, what you could do is get the apartment, store all your stuff there, and then live in the NYU dorms while subletting the apartment out to SAs. I'm not sure how NYC housing works, but that way you can secure a decent place before everybody else moves in too. My friends and I are actually looking for a place to live over the summer and maybe we can sublet from you (I'm absolutely serious about this). Of course, it would depend on costs / location / etc.
