Recommendations for a church in NYC
I really want to find a church that's got a happening community for young adults. Moreover, I hold a interest in discovering a community that demonstrates a strong commitment to various outreach initiatives, including meeting and connecting with new people.
Thank you !
Largely unfamiliar with NYC churches, but check out the traditional Latin Mass churches of the Holy Innocents in Manhattan and St. Josaphat's in Bayside (these are Roman Catholic churches fyi). If they're anything like the TLMs by me, then there's a huge community that's very active. The High Masses are packed usually with a lot of younger people (compared to old parishioners). There are probably other ones in the area too (I'll defer to others).

I can't comment on NYC churches (other than having watched St. Patrick's masses during covid which were great! Love Archbishop Dolan - random WSO-related shoutout but see his talk at Goldman with Blankfein below
Would also mention that one of the advantages of going Catholic is always having a place. Wherever you are in the world, you will have somewhere to go that will be familiar. Of course, some churches may have different church groups, different demographics, or more or less activities but in general, you don't have to search when moving place to place.
In addition, it's always fun to visit other Catholic churches around the world. Whenever my wife and I go anywhere for vacation, we attend mass at the local Catholic church. It's a great feeling to know there's always a place ready to welcome you. Also, it's really cool when vacationing somewhere to join the locals at the church and actually participate together.
Attending Saint Patrick’s regularly has been a huge highlight for me since moving to NYC. Palm Sunday was just great. My family and I watched the livestreams during the pandemic too and it was amazing to see the Archbishop hold Mass in person. I also went to Saint Joseph’s Church in Greenwich for the Tenebrae this year which was amazing. Such a good city to be Catholic.
Are there any particular Mass times that you would recommend for a first-time visitor? I appreciate any guidance you can provide. Thank you!
Cardinal Dolan celebrates the Sunday 10:15am Solemn mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral when he is in town.
