Anyone looking for a roommate or know of someone in their 20’s looking to split a high rise apartment in the Bay Area? Idk why so many people I’ve talked to have budgets of ~2000 or less it’s ridiculous. Is it unreasonable to be willing to spend between 2800-3200/mo to live comfortably? I thought that was the norm in SF but maybe I’m wrong. Compared to NYC I’d say sign me tf up for 2bd 2bath for 3k each in one of the nicest/newest buildings in the city. Leave a comment if you have any advice or think I’m wild for wanting to spend that much with a competitive tech M&A salary.

Lol I'm paying 1,550 in SF. To me my apartment is someplace I sleep and cook and the rest of the time I'm going to be at the gym, work, out with friends, or pursuing hobbies like surfing and golfing. To each their own I guess, but I'd much rather reallocate my budget to something that's fun and will keep me active rather than on a room I'm barely going to be in anyways.
1,550 for what - a room?
1550 per person for a 2 bedroom (2 people). NGL it's a shite neighborhood but a brand new building with tons of amenities. I chose it because it allowed pets and is a 5 minute walk to the gym and 5 minute bus ride to my work.
I get what your saying and feel very similar (former college golfer myself) but my office is 2-3 times a week in person unless on a live deal going forward. Also the place I’m looking at is in a good neighborhood, lots of restaurants/bars nearby, unreal business center with conference rooms and you get 8 months free equinox membership since it’s a new building and they’re still trying to fill rooms. But aside from all that I thought 3k per person for a 2b/2ba is normal in SF.
Totally understandable, if you're WFH then it makes sense to get a nicer place. I definitely would not say 3k is the norm for a 2BR/2BA. I've seen 2k is probably reasonable if you do enough hunting. Maybe in the more expensive neighborhoods like Marina or any of the luxury highrises. I'm 100% in office so I straight up just need a bed close to work.
U surf in SF? The waves there r garbage IMO.
Also, check out the Carillon Tower on Gough St., they have great design in the center of the city and it's not even that expensive.
I'm just starting so while the wave are defo garbage it's great for me to start learning. Fortunately I work at a company that's pretty lax on PTO so when I do want to move up I can take a week trip to Huntington or something
$3k with roommates seems steep. You can get a solid studio or one bedroom at that price point
Downtown SF sucks so no one is going to pay 3k to live there especially when they can live in the marina for 2k and have a much better social scene.
