I sent this to my coworker (in exchange for a list of the best bars in our neighborhood :)

Totally forgot to send this… It will keep you busy on long bus rides and rainy days.

Dude I tried and I can't get into it. I was watching Narcos yesterday and I think I put my finger on the reason: It's all just way too inconsequential. I was watching the scene where they're raiding the dude's house and he's hidden in the wall and they're drilling in and it grazez him. I'm liike OHH FUUUCK this is so life and death. Meanwhile, Bojack is having existential angst and fretting over a book deal and my mind just wanders.

If you have Amazon Prime the Playboy docuseries is great

Any of the Netflix original series are great. I'd recommend Narcos, Daredevil, Peaky Blinders, and House of Cards in particular.

I'm half way through El Chapo on NFLX and it's basically Narcos Season 4. It's very good and I recommend it for when you finish Narcos S3.

You gotta check out Spartacus (I think it's still on Netflix. Was produced by Starz I believe)! It's the love child of 300 and HBO lmao

Monkey see. Monkey Doo [Doo].

Been meaning to. I love shit about ancient warrior cultures. Have you seen Vikings? How does Spartacus stack up? Marco Polo is also awesome and has some fucking savage moments. Like when they take a bunch of villagers captive and put them in cages, then they start tossing them into these fucking cauldrons and setting them on fire (humans do burn, all the fat), and then loading these giant catapaults with the mangled burbning humans and catapaulting them at the walls of the capital or whatever. It was insane,

Vikings is largely historically accurate too. I started Wiki-ing events as the episodes went along and these motherfuckers really did sail into Paris and hold it captive for like months before getting paid loads of gold to leave.

Been meaning to check out Black Sails too because pirates are nifty.

Dude, I am totally with you! Love those shows too. Soooooo pumped for the next season of Vikings! It's hard to say which one I like more cause they take such different approaches stylistically. Vikings, like you said, is way more realistic and history driven. Spartacus is basically four seasons (I think they got through 4) of 300 meets Gladiator. Over the top action (faces being cut off mid fight, Tarentino blood works lol), CGI, jacked dudes duking it out with ancient weapons and awesome ancient Roman vulgarity lmao Definitely follows the real story of Spartacus, but I'd say much more loosely if compared to a show like Vikings. The first couple seasons of Spartacus have a sprinkle of GoT to them, lots of backstabbing and power grabs. Ultimately, it's tough, I love them all for unique reasons. If you love Vikings and Marco Polo and enjoyed 300 for it's over the top nature, you'll love Spartacus. The one disclaimer I'd give you though before you watch: Main actor that plays Spartacus (I think his name was Andy Witmen or Witfield) passed away from cancer after the first season. So season two takes place chronologically before season one then season three comes back to where 1 left off, just with a new guy playing Spartacus. I have a feeling you'll love it if you try it lol

Monkey see. Monkey Doo [Doo].

I watch all that bro. SPOILER: They're about to start the Danish occupation of England on Vikings as well as their medditeranian raids. It's gonna be beautiful.

If you like Vikings you'll like the last kingdom. Also check out the borgias: Rennaisance Italy and a corrupt pope with a corrupt family, very interesting.

Black Sails is awesome af

Not sure how new, but I just watched the second season of Ballers. Highly recommended.

for NEW shows: Atlanta is the best new show on TV, Luke Cage came out last month on netflix if you're into the superhero stuff, and (like you mentioned) Westworld is awesome.

Luke Cage was actually pretty good, they're doing a good job of connecting the different shows.

WestWorld is the shit. I'm a big time Michael Crichton fan.

If Billions is anything like Suits, I'm def not going to watch it. That show was total garbage.

I started watching Ballers but I lost interest quickly because the acting and writing are not very good imo. Also, this portrayal of NFL players all being crazy partiers, with insane personal lives, is so far from the truth. If you ever watched HBO's Hard Knocks you know that 90% of them are very boring people.

Billions is nothing like suits beyond the corporate environment being the main setting, it is a much better show with much better acting. Paul Giamatti is outstanding on it.

There's a relatively new show called Gomorrah. It's a foreign program (Italian). I haven't watched it yet (been meaning to get to it), but it's supposed to be great. A mix of Breaking Bad, The Wire, and The Sopranos. I think both Netflix and Amazon Prime have it.

If anyone has seen it already and can comment, it would be much appreciated. Here's a WSJ link:

I watched Designated Survivor btw. It's actually really good, indeed.

Not in theatres anymore, but I watched Kill The Messenger last night and it was great. I think it's a must-see.

Saw Whiplash the other day, definitely a solid flick. I watched Boyhood last night and that was pretty good also, but its almost three hours so be prepared. Check out the app Popcorn-Time, you can stream torrented movies, it's pretty magical.

Literally just started using Popcorn Time....quality is a bit on the low side but it works when you feel lazy.

BTbankerYou forgot Wall Street 2..
Get out. That movie was atrocious, in no way part of the canon like the original.
I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

Hasn't even been a week since Furious 7 came out and you watched it twice? Fucks wrong with you?

I've seen and enjoyed both the Princess Bride and MI:GP. I haven't seen the Talented Mr. Ripley, but will be sure to check it out.

Thanks again, everyone, for the recommendations.

Great Gatsby, Catch me if you can, Good Fellas, Blow, Departed, Public Enemies, American Beauty, Other's people money, Rogue trader, Johnny English, Goodwill hunting, Pursuit of Happiness, Donnie Brasco. This should get you going.

Some solid older movies: Fugitive Red Corner Red Dawn Spy Game Layer Cake

Finance Related: Watch the made for TV Barbarians at the Gate via Youtube (still a great movie)

TV Show: Check out the Marco Polo series on Netflix. You got plenty of action and women...

The Last Kingdom on Netflix is one of the best shows I've ever watched hands down. Middle age England and Viking raids and stuff. Its absolutely incredible once you get past the first 2 or 3 episodes
