The Angel of Death - on American soil?

As many of you have already heard, there is a cop murderer/vigilante on the run in California. Christopher Dorner - an ex-LAPD officer and ex-United States Navy reservist - is suspected of killing a couple, a police officer and injuring two other officers. This all started on February 3rd and since then, he has successfully evaded law enforcement.

The purpose of this blog post is not to get into the details of the killings nor the motivations behind it but to highlight another very alarming issue - one that should make not only people on the West Coast uneasy but also those across the United States. As of today, the LAPD has announced they will be using airborne drones to search for Christopher Dorner. This is the first time in US history a drone has been used to target a US citizen on US soil. According to LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, "This is an act, make no mistake about it, of domestic terrorism." No, the LAPD are not sending armed drones to take out Dorner, but they are using them to find out his location.

Would I be out of line to say that this is only the beginning of a much larger issue with the use of drones on domestic soil? Moreover, the use of the word "terrorism" seems to be used so sloppily that Chief Beck seems to use it to justify the use of drones. Is he in his right to call this an act of domestic terrorism?

To get a better grasp on the story, read here:

I hope that my assumption is merely a case of the slippery slope fallacy but evidence seems to be proving otherwise.

islandbankerThese seem more like targeted killings rather than acts of terrorism.
Agree. He's going after peope he thinks were responsible for setting him up. Not that that makes things right, but definitely NOT terrorism.

Le sigh. Seriously, WTF

Y'know, the rebranding of all/any crime/war as terrorism to justify unreasonable policy is exactly the original spark that caused me to turn on the GOP: I don't feel safer living in a police state. Having these things whack Al Qaeada in a warzone in lieu of putting troops in harm's way is a really, REALLY good idea. Having a motorized missle platform flying around downtown is lunacy, and fuckups can't be branded as "collateral damage" because, well, it's not a warzone, so I see this getting shut down just like the last mayor who tried this bullshit.

Honestly, anyone arguing for drones in civilian airspace is fucking retarded and should probably be shot by a drone.

...and that's all I have to say about that.

Get busy living

And this ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't register your gun.

My drinkin' problem left today, she packed up all her bags and walked away.
