Every day we wake up, and take for granted just how secure of a society we live in. When all the media talks about is what meme Trump tweeted last night, or how some groups of people are protesting some idealistic bullshit of "equality", an inquisitive mind should ask if this is really sustainable. After all, in Western countries, we have virtually guaranteed caloric security for all. With nearly an absence of physical violence, we forget what it feels like to fear dying on a daily basis, as our ancestors did for millions of years. You and I, we are all the result of suffering, struggle, famine, murder, rape, and genocide. This is a truth we'd rather deny, but words cannot override our genetic evolution. And the excesses of modern day medicine, one which believes in (and is capable of) rescuing all persons at any cost, irrespective of said person's age, contribution to society, and genetic fitness, well, it's just lunacy for the utilitarian. My point is, Pavlov's pyramid has never seen it's foundation built with materials of such strength. This gluttony of assurances results in cottage industries, where millions of people are paid to "look busy", or simply act as paper pushers with supervisors who amass large subordinates to fulfill his power ego -- both of whom would've surely gone hungry if not for the massive QE packages by the Fed as of late.
History shows us that prolonged periods of calm is often shattered by something unforeseen, something so shocking to the human psyche and/or physical existence that it could take years or decades to recover. It could be an act of nature, or an act of man, or a combination of both. Bring yourself back to kindergarden, and the game of musical chairs. A faint sound of music plays in the background, but it's starting to fade. The teacher tries to turn up the volume, but her effort is futile. It's getting quiet, too quiet, deafly quiet. What will we do when the music stops?

Don't agree with everything in here, but do agree that we in the West (I say "West" to include all Western-aligned, first world countries, such as Japan and South Korea) take for granted our prosperity and security and assume that it will last forever without any sacrifice. If we learn nothing else from history, we should learn that no circumstance is forever. Maybe--just maybe--the world is so interconnected now and maybe we have access to so much accumulated knowledge that things will be different this time. Perhaps international capitalism and space colonies will save the West from going the way of Rome, Greece, Byzantium, Persia, Egypt, China, and all of the other great world empires of the past. It does look like, however, that civil war is constantly brewing, from Germany to the U.S., and that it's always just a matter of time (10 years? 50?) before a match lights the powder keg.
Good prediction, almost came true in the last few months.
