To all the watch people

I have finally identified a watch that I actually like; the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic ($2000). Now the issue is, this is pretty much a recreation of the AP Royal Oak, I mean they look extremely identical. Will I look like a dick if I buy and wear this watch?

There are a ton of watches that are "Gerald Genta-esc" and take a lot of inspiration from the Patek Philippe Nautilus and AP Royal Oak. This Maurice Lacroix Aikon, for example, or also a similar brand, Baume & Mercier has their Riviera model that is similar. The Chopard Alpine Eagle, the Piaget Polo S, the Bulgari Octo Finisimo, the IWC Ingenieur, the Zenith Defy, the Girard-Perragaux Laureato, Hublot's entire brand, etc, etc, etc.

The Royal Oak and Nautilus created a new wave of these types of steel sports watches all inspired by Gerald Genta's designs since they were so popular. That doesn't make these other watches any less desirable. Each brand offers their own unique characteristics. No one is ever a dick for wearing a watch that they like. I think the Aikon is a great watch. There are probably other amazing watches at the $2k price point though. Make sure to do your research to make sure you find a watch that you like the most. Buy the one that speaks to you, don't get caught up in what watches are good investments and all that crap, just get what you like. My recommendation for watches in that $2k range would be Longines, though. The 39mm Hydroconquest is awesome and was my first watch.
