Undergrad: Michigan (Ross) or UChicago?

I find myself saying Ross is a no-brainer -- fun, strong GPA is somewhat assured, defined paths to great internships. Yet literally everyone is telling me to go to Chicago. I'm surprised I got into Chicago, safe to assume my GPA there isn't going to be stellar, but maybe the brand is worth that downside? And while Chicago isn't as fun, perhaps that forces you to grow more, become a better student?

What if he ends up hating banking or hating business? Then he's just another 1 of 29,000 undergrad kids on campus who will leave with a Michigan degree. A decent degree but it doesn't jump off the page.

Chicago? How is this even a thought. Go to Chicago. Believe in yourself.

What makes you come to such a definitive opinion? I'm not being coy, I know Chicago is ranked no.3 on US News (tied with Yale), but what went into your analysis that it's a no-brainer to go there over Ross? Thanks.

First of all, congrats on getting into both of these schools as they are both great programs. With that being said, the feedback I have heard over the years from Chicago has been stellar, for not only the school, but the location. Both of these programs will provide you with many opportunities, but I feel Chicago will broaden your horizon a bit more than Michigan.

But, I mean its a bit like saying "should I choose Harvard or Stanford" - - - they are different schools (and both top programs) in different locations and I think you should check out which majors you like the best in each schools and the faculty and location and make an informed decision from there (as well as the finances if they are different). I can't make an informed decision in an armchair for you, but can only give what my personal preference would be, and for me it would be Chicago. So, I guess it is not even a thought (for me). But, it certainly is for you.
