What are some good action/thriller books for the beach?
I am not looking to read anything too heavy this summer, just something you can pick up here and there that is fun and full of action/suspense like The Da Vinci Code. Any thoughts?

Vince Flynn

Vince Flynn - Term Limits is his best novel imo (though the Rapp series is wholly phenomenal as well), Transfer of Power, and Consent to Kill especially.
Tom Clancy - Without Remorse or Clear and Present Dqnger. Rainbow Six is solid too.
Jack Carr- Terminal List series (going to be an Amazon Prime show starting next month)
Steven Pressfield - different genre somewhat but Gates of Fire is amazing historical fiction. (About Thermopylae)
Mark Greaney- the Gray Man series
Stephen Hunter- Point of Impact (inspired the movie Shooter), Black Light, and Time to Hunt.
Yeah I didn't mean to limit his books to that list. I read Term Limits years ago - I think I've read all his books, it's been awhile.
>Tom Clancy - Without Remorse or Clear and Present Danger. Rainbow Six is solid too.
I am hot and cold when it comes to Tom Clancy, some of his books are waaay to long and seem to be filled with 100s of pages of filler it seems. Red Storm Rising might be one of the best books ever written, it's one of my favorites, and eerily prescient, but then other books like Executive Orders just seem way to long (like 500 pages too long). Without Remorse is also fantastic, and I might read it again this summer. I've thought about digging into Rainbow Six, is it more action or political?
Both. It's politically driven action. Rainbow Six is kind of eerily prescient for today too if that's any motivation to give it a read.
Seconding the above post for the Jack Carr Terminal List series.
The Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva
Scot Harvath series by Brad Thor
If you're willing to depart from the thriller genre into fantasy, I can't recommend the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson enough. Plus, at nearly 5,100 pages you'll have enough content for however long you stay at the beach.
Also, I have to recommend a fellow Alum's book, "Lords of Discipline" if you haven't read it already. Conroy's writing style is one of a kind.

I have a book signed by Pat Conroy - "My Losing Season" - "The Boo" signed it too. And a bunch of basketball players from the team. I went snowboarding in WV and left it at the resort hotel. Someone found it and they contacted my school and found out my current address and sent it there. Crazy how nice some people are. Now Pat Conroy and The Boo are dead, but I still have his signed book.
Simon Beckett also made some nice ones like “Cold Ash”
anything from Taleb (“skin in the game” one of my personal favourites)
Dune (the original book)
Scarecrow series - Matt Reilly
Easy Money - Jens Lapidus

If you like John Grisham-style thrillers and finance, you might enjoy my novel, The Pitchbook. Check out the chapter preview in Amazon and let me know what you think:
