As the new year starts I'm starting to question myself on where I wanna go and how to get there.
Bit of context, I am an second-year analyst at an Elite Boutique in Western Europe (top tier). I am obviously making good money for my age and my lifestyle is completely constraints-less. But I'm wondering, am I what people usually call "rich"? I see all the partners at my firm, living in sumptuous apartments, driving expensive cars with expensive watches or suits and can't stop wondering how they got there. Did they just stick to IB for their whole career and only now (in their 40s++) enjoy that high life? I know they have side investments (nightclubs, restaurants ...) but is it something that will come along with compensation in the years to come or did they start young doing something on the side to accelerate the process and get there.
One of my dreams would be to retire early (think at around 45 of age). Can I get there just by sticking to doing M&A?
Let this discussion be a place of thinking. I guess I won't find the one and only method to getting rich in 5 steps...
