When do you guys stop calling your parents’ house “home”?

Feel like I talk to other guys in the work force who are still, like, in their mid 20s, and they still refer to their parents’ house as “home”. Example: “yeah I’ve got no work on Saturday so I’m gonna take the train home and see my parents”.

Still do. 90% of the time when I say "home" I am referring to my own place, but in a context when you are clearly talking about your childhood house I don't think it's inappropriate to say "home" there as well. Think it changes when you have your own house/family, or when your parents move out of the home you grew up in

Mid-20s guy here, still do that all the time. As a poster said it best, home is where the heart is. I have a wonderful relationship with my parents so I will always consider anywhere they are home. It also helps that they are living in the same general area as what I grew up with since I was 2 (and have no intention of moving anywhere). So it's quite comforting.

I live a solid 2-3hr plane ride away & enjoy my independence but know I can always head back over home when I want to see them & my friends in the area. Something really great about that

Love this. Is there’s one thing that keeps me in the game it’s my always supportive parents. I’m on the West Coast and I can call my dad on ET time and shoot the shit anytime I want. Parents love to just hear their kids’ voices and have their sons/daughters checking up on them every once in a while. It may not seem like much, but you have to remember what it felt like when all their children were in the same household growing up and where they are now. It makes their day to hear about the deals you’re working on, how annoying your clients are, and even the struggles you face every day. I’ll never take my parents for granted and the support they’ve shown me. I love how excited they get when I tell them I closed a deal or how much my bonus is. It’s really special.

My parents moved when I was in college, so that was when I stopped.

Wasn't like I thought about it or anything, it had just never been "home" - I had a room there, but I never actually lived there, so it wasn't ever "my house." The natural thing to say became "going to my parents' new house" and then just "going to my parents' house" or "going to see my parents"

I definitely know guys in their 30s who still say things like "going home for the holidays" or "I'm out of town, went home to see family". Nothing wrong with it - if you feel at home, more power to you, that's awesome and I'd cherish it as long as you can

My old boss is 40 with a wife and kids, makes >$1M/yr.  He rents in the city and still says "We went home to see my folks."  I know they're old school because they gave him a very unfortunate traditional name. (Didn't learn that until I got my first annual review from him)  He uses a shortened, whitened cheat name.  Granted I use a shortened name too, but it's obvious what mine is short for unlike his.  (Think along the lines of Joe for Joseph for me)

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
