Why do people like traveling so much?
I don’t get it. The logistics/expense. Personal opinion, you don’t get an “authentic” experience from going anywhere for a week. What’s the appeal? I live in a major city and am exposed to plenty of “diverse cultural experiences” here.
What the hell kinda topic is this? People want to travel so see the world, and not stay in their city and bubble for the next 50 years
I think people don't like traveling as much as they like *appearing* to like traveling. Makes them feel sophisticated that they've "traveled to 20 countries and counting!", even though the majority of these "diverse cultural experiences" come from 1st world resort countries..
if your IG story is constantly updated while abroad and your job doesn't involve travel blogging, then yes you are a poseur

Not everyone likes to travel, it depends on who you ask.
My circle of friends is split 50/50 on this topic, the one half has traveled the world, from Singapore, Australia, japan, Europe and all over the US. the other half has never left even their home state. the more educated, employed (ie finance), and wealthier friends tend to like learning languages, traveling and buying properties abroad.
what you can learn from traveling?
- learn other languages
- learn about other cultures
- how people deal with things outside of what we know
- you can find new hobbies or interests
- in the world of business and deals, the senior contacts make sure that f2f chemistry is alright, also increases chance of future deals
- your brain likes to be stimulated with different smells, climate, food, and different nature to look at
- and, the most important reason: you can brag about your trip online on social media :D
I admit you could do a lot of these things in a larger US city or even online. But there are people who don't want to sit around the same room/house/office all day, all year.
