Headhunter ask if interested then ghost

Ive had multiple headhunters reach out with job opportunities, asking if I was interested. After replying that I am, I never hear back. What could be the cause of this? They have my resume and information, so what could possibly change between me being qualified enough to receive the initial email and, after expressing interest, no longer receiving any communication

headhunter thinking you're qualified doesn't necessarily mean the firm will be interested in interviewing. Most likely it's the case that the firm doesn't want to interview you / have chosen others to interview. The headhunters typically just ghost you which isn't right but it sucks. Other explanations could be that the process was put on hold, and that has been the case for some firms since april

So you think they do send the resume along and when the firm says no they just ghost or aren’t even sending along? I’ve had emails where HH says something along the lines of “hey if ur interested let us know and we’ll see up a call to give more details” then never set up the call

Yes, they send resumes to the firm, then the firm picks who they want to interview. If you are selected, then you hear back... if not, you are ghosted. This is very common. I don't endorse it, but that's how it is.

For the latter, where they don't set up calls, just send follow-up emails periodically. Sometimes people get busy, and emails get lost in the inbox.

I'm learning that you just need patience with them. They are busy people as well. I'm sure trying to do the best they can. There's probably more of us (candidates) than recruiters. I've fallen into recruiter blame many times, and then suddenly you get an inbound then have a great conversation.
