Lmaooo - is it significantly higher than at investment banks? For some reason was under the impression that is wasn't as high due to WLB being better
It's on par with mid-tier EBs think Lazard or PWP. Not as high as Evercore, CVP or PJT and not as low as BBs
WLB being better is entirely subjective and based on where you work. Same with comp. Sure, if you're an analyst at KKR you'll probably make more than most IB analysts short of the EBs, but some no-name LMM fund in a T2/T3 city? You'll be lucky to break $90k-$100k all-in starting. If you're focused on sourcing and not execution forget about 6 figures entirely unless you source a deal.
