Is The “Up or Out” Model Commonplace at Mid Level?
Understand this is common at A2A but what about VP and Director level? If someone is crushing it at VP and can run entire process for a MD-sourced deal, does your firm push him out if he cant bring in any deals himself?
Asking for a friend. Fundraising is tough across the board so I’m trying to hang onto my seat as long as possible, even if it means base and carry stay flat
Based on firm. My umm used to revolving door of mid levels new fund less so
For most performing MM+ firms, there isn’t room for like lifelong VPs (even if good at the job).
Ultimately, if you’re not adequately progressing in your role, you’ll be asked to move on and make room for up and comers, regardless of level.
Zombie funds and LMM is different (for very different reasons).
