PE associate interview prep/mock buddies?

Does anyone also going through off-cycle recruiting for PE associate roles want to be interview prep buddies/do a few mock interviews together? we could probably go through the typical behavioral questions and do a few investment case studies/pitches. I think it'd be very helpful to practice saying the (behavioral) answers out loud to a real person as opposed to just thinking through the key points in my/your head.

DM me if interested! (Other/higher levels welcome too - don't know if I'd be as useful for you, but happy to prep together anyway)

Based on the most helpful WSO content, finding a buddy for interview prep, especially for off-cycle PE associate roles, is a fantastic idea. Practicing with someone else can significantly enhance your performance during the actual interviews. Here are a few tips to make the most out of your mock interview sessions:

  1. Behavioral Questions: Start with the basics like "Tell me about yourself," "Why PE?" and "Why our firm?" Then, move on to more complex behavioral questions that require you to demonstrate your problem-solving skills, teamwork, leadership, and resilience. Sharing stories from your past experiences can help make your answers more compelling.

  2. Investment Case Studies/Pitches: Practice presenting investment ideas clearly and concisely. Focus on the investment rationale, valuation, risks, and exit strategies. It's beneficial to critique each other's pitches and suggest improvements.

  3. Technical Questions: While the main focus might be on behavioral questions and case studies, don't neglect the technical aspect. Review financial modeling, LBO models, and valuation techniques. You can quiz each other on these topics to ensure you're sharp.

  4. Feedback: Constructive feedback is crucial. Be open and honest with your prep buddy about what they did well and where they can improve. Specific, actionable feedback is more valuable than generic advice.

  5. Consistency: Try to schedule regular sessions. Consistency will help you retain information better and make your delivery more natural over time.

  6. Networking: Use this opportunity to expand your network. Your mock interview partner today could be a valuable connection in the future.

Remember, the goal is to simulate the interview environment as closely as possible, so treat these sessions seriously. Good luck, and don't forget to check out the WSO Virtual Bootcamps and the Private Equity Interview Prep resources for more structured guidance.
