Searched around and could only find some threads from 5+ years ago, was curious if anyone could shed some more light on the operational improvement roles available at PE firms? Everything I was finding was indicating that some funds have full fledged operations teams, whereas others will only have senior operating partners (usually people with 20+ years experience), is this still the case? Are there any junior roles available for someone more interested in that aspect in PE and not necessarily improving a company via adding debt/financial engineering?

There was a really good podcast by the Gale Parker (?) MDs and they had a subject about operational guys. They mentioned that their fund has a deal team, carry receiving operational partner, but that that's not always the case. Worth listening to.

They'll help diligence existing digital capabilities Some have tech expertise so helpful in software deals Some could be ex retail heads Other things include optimizing spend across portfolio by encouraging cross sell and procurement savings Others could be ex manufacturing guys who can do site visits and deep operational dives and identify cost optimization / plant rationalization opps
