Transfer into UChicago vs Georgetown vs Ross vs Stern

Currently a freshman aiming for a buy-side role (I know it's difficult) and am transferring for non-finance reasons. That being said, I do want to give myself a good shot at one of the top buy-side roles, but also have a decent time socially. How would you rank the following options:UChicago, Georgetown, Ross, Stern, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt

ND/Ross for placement…ND if you care more about placement, Ross if you care more about social life

he said he’s taking social life into acct and UoC is where fun goes to die

Seconded as someone who currently goes to UChicago the shitty social scene reputation is significantly overblown

For placement, networking etc etc would full recommend stern or Georgetown. Went to a big 10 state school and directly felt the locational disadvantages. Opportunities / networking opps etc would prefer a city and combine that with Georgetown or stern’s academic prowess would be easy money.

Trade off is cost of living but IMO that can be made up eventually.

Is a candidate with a 4.0 from Chicago in a significantly better position than one with a 4.0 from GTown?

U Chicago has a lot of grade deflation so if someone can keep a 4.0 is a strong program like economics, I'm sure that they'll go MF PE out of undergrad or to a top HF

Not the one MSing you, but not sure why it matters that UChicago is good at law/med - this person is very clearly set on finance and all of the schools named are strong in finance

That's a decent pitch for a high schooler not sure what they want to do with life, but the med school being good/bad has literally no impact on someone zeroed in on very niche areas of high finance

UChicago is the best out of the names academically / for placement, but as others have said it's "where fun goes to die". You'll have a great time if you're a nerd / intellectual, but you'll probably be pretty miserable if you're a generic big 10 frat guy.

Ross places very well In IB and some buyside roles but will echo that east and west coast kids just have such great proximity to so many opportunities. Although one thing I will point out is that umich is very strong in engineering, med, law, etc and has a great campus and social life. Contemplated transferring after committing but Ann Arbor has quickly become my favorite place ever
