Turnaround Consulting to IB/PE?
Recently received a FT offer from a small turnaround consulting firm that exclusively works with MM PE clients.
Should I go back into IB FT before graduating or spend 2-3 years in the consulting shop before trying to network my way into PE? Would have CPA and CFA and a pretty unique story.
Hi Ball Don't Lie, whoops, looks like nobody chimed in here.... maybe one of these discussions below is relevant:
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
Do you want to be in the deal team or the ops team? Or work for maybe a family office where you can do both? Or independent sponsor? You question was pretty cryptic.
See your point. Preferably on the deal team with an ability to do some work for the ops team. Likely a family office or small fund.
I understand why the skillset translates from IB->PE on the deal team side, however, I am wondering if RX held any value to those in PE on the deals side outside of distressed debt.
I’ve seen this path before - best chance is to break in through RX banking from RX / turnaround consulting at the analyst level, then attempting to join oncycle as a second year analyst, or looking for offcycle opportunities in PE / HF. It’s tough, but has definitely happened before.
