Following up after applying?
Is there etiquette around this? I recently applied to a boutique repe shop and am contemplating reach out to the hiring manager via linkedin.

Career Resources
yes. shows proactiveness.
Go for it. Shows you will go the extra mile and simply ask for a chance to talk more about the role/culture/firm etc
I'll go for it, thanks for the input
Got an interview from it
Congratulations, now go out and get the job. Good luck.
100%. I almost landed my dream job by cold emailing (not LinkedIn) the hiring manager of the team. A well-written and thought out cold email can work wonders if executed properly.
What did you say in this email? Could you give me any hints on what I should write in the follow-up after submitting my application?
3 yr update: not only did this email work but I eventually got called for the same job 1 yr after and got hired. I still work with the guy that hired me but in a new venture.
I just went back to take a look and here's all i did:
1. Immediately confirm that I am reaching out to follow up on my application for the job
2. one sentence elevator pitch about my experience and how its highly relevant for the role
3. Explain why i was interested in this specific asset class (since its niche) and listed 3 relevant deals i closed
4. ended with :I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your team's needs, as well as my experience, in more detail to see if there is a potential fit here. I look forward to hearing from you.
What;s the most interesting: I never got a response to this email, but my boss confirmed down the line that it's the reason I got an interview.
Follow-up After E-mail Internship application? (Originally Posted: 01/31/2018)
Hey everyone,
There are a couple firms I would really like to intern for over the summer and have applied as well. However, none of them have been responsive; I think one reason may be that I asked for a spring internship. Is it unusual to follow up saying that I want to apply for a summer internship?
Hi Rchan100, don't worry, the WSO Monkey Bot is here.... I'm hoping one of these links will help find your answer:

What should I do? - Following up on application (Originally Posted: 12/18/2014)
A MD at a major bank asked me to follow up on my application with the people in charge of that and I said there is no contact info on the website and he said "I’m sorry.. I don’t know who does that.. is there contact info on the website?" Should I just say no, and ask if he would be able to find out?
First, I would try to look for it myself before going back to the MD and asking for help. Check with your career services to see if the firm recruits at your school and try to pull up information there. If not, go through linkedin and try to message through a bunch of recruiters in regards to your information. If you have no luck after multiple attempts, then I would ask the MD for help. You don't want to be spoon-fed.
