Getting into CRE mortgage sales

Hi All,

Thanks for your help in advance. I’m thinking of getting into commercial real estate mortgage sales, but I’m worried about the economy (pending recession, and it’s affect on my ability to succeed in this industry).

Can you please give me your thoughts on entering the industry as a new salesperson? Is this a good career? I’m thinking of joining one of the big shops.

Also, is the economy something I should worry about with regard to getting into the industry at this time? Or will I still be able to generate business irregardless?

Thank you.

Wait, are you trying to sell notes or originate loans?

If you want to sell notes, this is literally the perfect time, albeit I’m not sure if there is a specified sales person for that. At least my firm doesn’t have one.

If you want to be an originator, I would recommend that you first work as an underwriter or find a program that will train you to be an originator. A few banks / lenders offer them. But as you stated, there are not exactly a ton of new originations happening.
